Join Block Labs as a Software Architect – Shape the Future of Web3, AI, and iGaming
Are you an experienced backend engineer passionate about system design, architecture, and high-scale distributed systems? Block Labs, a premier technology studio at the cutting edge of Web3, AI, and iGaming, is hiring a Software Architect to lead the evolution of their gaming and transactional platforms. This is a full-time role with significant ownership over architecture, system patterns, and technical strategy.
About Block Labs
Block Labs is not just a tech company—it’s a collective of senior engineers, product strategists, and builders who demand excellence in every line of code. From autonomous multi-agent AI systems to decentralized financial infrastructure and high-frequency iGaming platforms, Block Labs builds production-grade platforms designed for scale, reliability, and long-term impact.
The team moves fast but builds with architectural integrity, making it the ideal environment for engineers who care deeply about clean system design, transaction integrity, and distributed architecture.
About the Role
As a Software Architect at Block Labs, you will:
-
Own and evolve the backend architecture for gaming and transactional platforms.
-
Define and enforce architectural patterns, service boundaries, and integration standards.
-
Design transaction engines and state management flows, including remediation, compensation, and reconciliation.
-
Drive adoption of robust distributed system patterns, such as sagas, idempotency, and failure recovery.
-
Act as the technical authority for cross-service concerns like consistency, data ownership, and contract definitions.
-
Support teams via design reviews and critical pull requests in high-risk or high-impact areas.
-
Ensure a single source of truth across services using gRPC and strongly typed contracts for multi-language integration.
-
Collaborate with infrastructure and product teams to align architectural decisions with delivery realities and regulatory constraints.
This role emphasizes technical ownership and thought leadership, not line management. You will be instrumental in reducing architectural drift, ensuring transaction integrity, and enabling scalable, maintainable systems.
What We’re Looking For
Ideal candidates will have:
-
8+ years of backend engineering experience, including architect or staff-level roles.
-
Proficiency in Go and production-grade distributed system design.
-
Experience with transaction-heavy systems in financial, payments, gaming, or ledger domains.
-
Deep knowledge of consistency, concurrency, and failure handling in distributed environments.
-
Practical experience designing gRPC-based APIs and shared contracts across multiple services and languages.
-
Strong opinions on clean architecture and system boundaries while remaining pragmatic and delivery-focused.
-
Excellent communication skills to unblock complex technical discussions.
Nice to Have:
-
Experience in iGaming platforms, payment processing, or regulated financial systems.
-
Hands-on work with saga patterns, compensation flows, and long-running process orchestration.
-
Experience in mixed-language environments and defining platform-level standards.
-
Background in event-driven or hybrid synchronous/asynchronous systems.
What Success Looks Like
-
Consistent adoption of architectural patterns across platforms.
-
Reduced late-stage reworks due to inconsistent designs.
-
Transaction flows that are observable, recoverable, and auditable.
-
Tech Leads and engineers spend more time delivering value rather than debating fundamentals.
-
A platform that scales in scope and complexity without sacrificing correctness or developer trust.
The Block Labs Culture
Expect a mature, mission-driven, and low-ego culture that values:
-
Clarity over noise
-
Outcomes over theatrics
-
Pace without chaos
If you are one of the smartest minds in your craft and enjoy building with other experts, Block Labs provides the environment to shape the future of digital platforms.
