Decypher is hiring a Full-Time Medical Coder I to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This is a 100% remote, work-from-home opportunity offering flexible scheduling and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health and readiness of U.S. service members, veterans, and their families.

Job Overview

Position: Medical Coder I

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Mode: 100% Remote (Work From Home)

Schedule: Flexible (Sunday–Saturday)

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
-
Review clinical documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
-
Assign correct medical codes, including:
-
Evaluation & Management (E&M)
-
CPT and HCPCS (with modifiers and units)
-
ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes
-
ICD-10-PCS procedure codes (as applicable)
-
-
Use MHS GENESIS to access patient records remotely
-
Meet productivity goals while maintaining 97% or higher coding accuracy
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following:
-
Associate’s degree or higher in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or biological sciences, OR
-
University certificate in Medical Coding, OR
-
Completion of a recognized medical training program under professional supervision (U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Maritime Service)
Required Certifications (AAPC or AHIMA)

AAPC: Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
-
AHIMA: RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P
-
E&M Certifications:
-
AAPC: CEMC
-
NAMAS: CEMA
-
Experience Requirements
-
Minimum 1 year of medical coding experience (required)

DoD or Veterans Affairs coding experience (preferred)

MHS GENESIS coding experience (preferred)
