Position Overview: Controller

Location: Remote
Job Type: Full-time
Reports to: Director of Shared Services

As Controller, you will own internal financial controls, project accounting, and cash visibility in a project-based consulting environment. Your work ensures accurate books, reliable financial data, and timely reporting, directly supporting leadership decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Manage monthly close processes and ensure accurate, timely financials
Maintain clean, audit-ready financial records
Oversee Unanet financial system hygiene, project setup, and billing alignment
Supervise invoicing, accounts receivable visibility, and collections support
Maintain a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast
Support tax filings, 1099 preparation, and external CPA coordination
Provide clear and actionable financial reporting for leadership
Coordinate with external Unanet consultants for advanced support

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of accounting or controller-level experience
Hands-on experience with Unanet (required)
Strong understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition
Experience with month-end close, general ledger accuracy, AR, billing, and cash flow tracking
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of outcomes

Desired Skills

Experience supporting mixed revenue models
Familiarity with cash forecasting and rolling 13-week cash flow models
Experience with bank reporting or borrowing base certificates (BBC)
Prior experience with remote or distributed teams
CPA or equivalent credential (preferred)
Experience improving or documenting accounting processes
