About the Role – Operations Specialist in Animal Care

As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, you’ll play a key role in ensuring proper husbandry and care for companion animals and aquatic life within the Pet Care Center (PCC). This isn’t just a job – it’s a chance to combine your love for animals with professional growth in retail operations.

Responsibilities

Ensure all animals (companion pets and aquatic life) receive the highest standards of care, including hourly health checks.
Act as the primary resource for animal care, maintenance, and education within the PCC.
Support the PCC team in meeting budgeted sales and inventory goals.
Stock, price, and merchandise products to create a welcoming shopping experience.
Assist customers at the register and provide expert guidance on animal care.
Maintain a clean, professional environment, including habitat upkeep.
Promote teamwork and an inclusive culture while ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience in animal care (companion animals or aquatic life).
Strong knowledge of animal welfare and husbandry practices.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to stand for long hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and work evenings/weekends as needed.
Completion of Petco’s Animal Care Certification Program (required).
