Role Overview
As a Medical Collector in the Compromised Settlements Unit, you will serve as the primary liaison between law firms, third-party records retrieval companies, patient advocates, and internal departments such as billing, coding, and insurance.
This role focuses heavily on legally represented accounts, including personal injury, workers’ compensation, bankruptcy, probate, and billing dispute cases. You will process subpoenas and statutory attorney requests while ensuring strict HIPAA compliance and accurate billing practices.
Key Responsibilities

Process subpoenas and statutory 766 requests for billing records

Generate and submit itemized billing documentation from Epic systems

Serve as a liaison with law firms, patient advocates, and internal departments

Apply billing indicators, billing holds, and account adjustments per policy

Coordinate with Billing and Collections teams for PIP, WC, Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance claims

Monitor and manage Epic legal, bankruptcy, and probate workqueues

Communicate through calls and email to resolve account issues
-
Negotiate settlements in accordance with organizational guidelines
-
Meet productivity, accuracy, and compliance performance metrics
Qualifications & Skills
To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

At least 1 year of relevant experience

Strong written and verbal communication skills
