Job Overview: Cashier (Part-Time)

Job Type: Part-Time
Pay Rate: $15.00 – $16.38 per hour
Pay Schedule: Weekly pay
Department: Front End / Customer Service

As a Cashier, you’ll be responsible for handling customer transactions efficiently while delivering excellent customer service. You’ll play a key role in creating a friendly and welcoming shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and respond to their needs promptly
Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately
Scan items, enter PLU/UPC codes, and calculate totals
Process payments via cash, credit cards, checks, and gift cards
Issue receipts, refunds, credits, rain checks, and coupons
Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
Stay informed about weekly promotions and sale items
Support team goals and assist with other assigned duties

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

High school diploma or GED (required)

Skills

Basic math skills
Strong attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication
Friendly, energetic, and customer-focused attitude
Ability to multitask in a high-volume retail environment
Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel preferred)

Experience (Preferred but Not Required)

1–2 years of grocery or retail front-end experience
Experience in the natural or organic foods industry is a plus

Physical Requirements

Standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
Reaching, bending, and lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
Repetitive hand movements for scanning and handling items
Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures
