As a Bike Guide with Arbutus Routes, you’ll be a key member of a professional guiding team delivering safe, fun, and memorable rides across some of Canada’s most legendary terrain — including Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton, and the Sunshine Coast.

This role blends trail leadership, customer service, safety management, and mechanical know-how. You’ll connect with guests from around the world while showcasing local trails and helping riders of all levels build confidence.

🌟 Key Duties & Responsibilities

🗺️ Guided Riding Experiences

  • Lead guided mountain bike tours across Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton, and the Sunshine Coast

  • Deliver a wide range of tour types, including:

    • Bike Park Coaching

    • Scenic Valley Tours

    • Enduro Tours

    • Gravel Bike Tours

    • Corporate Group Tours

    • Beginner Family Tours

🤝 Guest Experience & Customer Service

  • Ensure guests feel safe, supported, and engaged

  • Share local trail knowledge, riding tips, and coaching tailored to skill levels

  • Represent Arbutus Routes with professionalism and positive energy on and off the trails

🛡️ Safety & Risk Management

  • Assess trail conditions and manage risks effectively

  • Maintain the highest safety standards for yourself and guests

  • Apply First Aid when required

🔧 Operations & Teamwork

  • Communicate with shop staff regarding bookings, schedules, and equipment needs

  • Use mechanical knowledge to assist with bike issues when needed

  • Support team operations to ensure smooth daily guiding activities

👤 Skills & Qualifications

This role is designed for experienced riders and guides who bring both technical ability and people skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum PMBI/GSMBC Level 2 certification

  • 80-hour First Aid certification (WFA or OFA)

  • Strong local trail knowledge (or proven ability to learn new trail networks quickly)

  • Riding ability suitable for black and double-black trails, including Whistler Bike Park

  • At least one year of guiding or coaching experience

Key Skills

  • Proven experience in risk assessment and guest safety
