Role Overview
The Game Product Manager is responsible for end-to-end ownership of a game’s lifecycle—from concept evaluation and green-light approval, through production, launch, and post-launch performance. As the central decision-driving role, the GPM ensures alignment across Creative, Production, Engineering, Analytics, Marketing, and Finance, delivering products that delight players and meet business goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pre–Green Light Ownership

Lead concept evaluation: market analysis, genre trends, competitive benchmarking, and player opportunity sizing

Develop product briefs: core lore, target audience, differentiators, KPIs, success metrics

Collaborate with Finance and Production to build ROI rationale, staffing plans, timelines, budgets, and risk analysis

Create and own the green-light package for executive approval
2. Product Ownership Through Production

Maintain and refine the product roadmap, prioritization framework, and milestones

Translate product vision into sprint objectives with Production

Ensure features align with KPIs, player motivations, and market fit

Lead change management and maintain risk/assumption logs
3. Launch & Go-to-Market

Partner with Marketing, Analytics, and Community teams to develop launch strategy, messaging, and positioning

Coordinate playtests, player research, and feedback cycles pre-launch
-
Ensure products meet quality and readiness standards
4. Post-Launch & Live Insights
-
Monitor live KPIs and gather player feedback for iterative improvements

Lead postmortems and integrate learnings into development frameworks
5. Process & Framework Ownership

Evolve green-light frameworks, milestone gating standards, and product evaluation methodology

Create reusable documentation templates (PRDs, briefs, KPI scorecards)

Bring the right subject-matter experts into decisions at the right time
Qualifications

5–10 years of game product management experience with shipped titles

Strong understanding of market dynamics, player motivations, and product-to-market fit

Experience managing roadmaps, KPIs, playtests, and green-light evaluations
-
Exceptional cross-functional leadership and influence without formal authority

Data-driven decision-making; comfortable with KPIs, forecasting, and iterative development
