Job Summary

As a Hospital Switchboard Operator, you will operate the organization’s central switchboard, ensuring all incoming and outgoing communications are handled accurately, professionally, and efficiently. This role is especially important during emergencies, codes, and disaster situations, requiring calm decision-making and strong critical-thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

📞 Communication & Call Handling

Answer and route internal and external calls
Provide general information and customer service assistance
Maintain desk directories, on-call lists, and reference guides

🚨 Emergency & Security Support

Communicate hospital codes, alerts, drills, and announcements
Operate paging and beeper systems to contact hospital staff and code teams
Provide radio support for security and facilities departments
Monitor security cameras

🧠 Decision-Making & Administrative Support

Use critical thinking to respond appropriately in urgent situations
Work independently with minimal supervision
Provide administrative support as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications
