Primary Worksite: Troy Hospital – Dequindre Road
Patient Transporters play a critical role in ensuring patients move safely and comfortably throughout the hospital for examinations, procedures, and discharge.
Key Responsibilities
As a Patient Transporter at Corewell Health, your daily duties will focus on patient safety, comfort, and timely care delivery.
Patient Transportation

Safely transport patients between inpatient, outpatient, emergency, ICU, and testing areas.

Assist patients in and out of wheelchairs, gurneys, movable beds, and vehicles.

Use proper lifting and transfer techniques to prevent injuries.
Patient Identification & Safety

Perform active and passive patient identification before transport.

Monitor patients for stress or discomfort and immediately seek assistance when needed.

Follow universal precautions and hospital safety protocols at all times.
Equipment & Support Duties

Transport medical equipment, supplies, oxygen, and medications with patients.

Clean and disinfect transport equipment following hospital guidelines.

Report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate department.
Team Collaboration

Communicate effectively with nurses, physicians, and clinical staff.

Assist with toileting ambulatory patients under RN or medical staff direction.

Support timely patient discharge processes.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

High school diploma or GED
-
BLS Certification
-
American Heart Association (AHA) or
-
American Red Cross (ARC)
(Must be obtained within 90 days of hire)

Completion of three months of on-the-job training

Understanding of safe lifting and patient transport techniques

Ability to follow HIPAA confidentiality guidelines
