📚 What You’ll Do as a Part-Time Librarian

Being a librarian today is much more than shelving books. This role allows you to serve as an information guide, literacy supporter, community educator, and program creator.

Your responsibilities may include:

✔ Assisting the Public

Helping community members find information and library resources
Providing basic technology support (computers, printers, devices)
Offering exceptional customer service in-person and over the phone

✔ Promoting the Library

Encouraging community engagement
Creating and supporting programs that appeal to all age groups
Conducting outreach to individuals who cannot visit the library

✔ Supporting Library Operations

Assisting with circulation, interlibrary loan, youth/teen services, and community programs
Selecting and deselecting items for collection development
Using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other software
Occasionally serving as staff in charge when full-time employees are absent

🤝 Supervision & Work Culture

You’ll be working under the general supervision of the Library Director or other full-time staff members. Although support is available, you’ll also enjoy the independence to carry out tasks without constant oversight.
