Role Overview
As a Petco Retail Associate, you will deliver an exceptional guest experience by using your product knowledge—especially in pet nutrition—to guide customers toward the best products and services for their pets. You will play a key role in driving sales while promoting Petco’s mission of pet health and wellness.
Key Responsibilities

Engage with guests to understand their pets’ needs and recommend appropriate products

Demonstrate strong knowledge of pet nutrition, health, and animal care

Process register transactions and ensure a positive checkout experience

Maintain merchandise displays that are stocked, priced, and visually appealing

Support store sales goals through effective selling behaviors

Complete training programs to maintain role expertise and Petco certification

Promote a safe, inclusive, and collaborative team environment

Refer guest inquiries to leadership when appropriate

Follow all operational guidelines, safety protocols, and company policies
Qualifications & Skills

Minimum 1 year of sales experience required

Strong knowledge of pet nutrition and animal care

Excellent customer inquiry handling and communication skills

Genuine passion for pets and their wellbeing

Ability to complete and maintain Petco Certification

Professional appearance and positive attitude
Preferred: Prior experience working with pets or in pet nutrition-related roles.
Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods

Frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and moving merchandise

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and pull up to 2000 lbs using equipment
