As a Bakery Associate, you will work independently and as part of a team to prepare, package, display, and stock bakery products while ensuring food safety, quality, and an excellent guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of bakery and store-related tasks, including:

Preparing and producing bakery items according to the production plan
Frying, packaging, labeling, and displaying bakery products
Merchandising products based on store flight plans and expectations
Stocking bakery products in the backroom with proper rotation and dating
Monitoring inventory and notifying the Bakery Manager when supplies need to be reordered
Communicating tasks, recipes, measurements, and cleaning steps to team members
Following all PPE, safety, food safety, and cleaning guidelines
Supporting other departments when needed to enhance customer experience
Contributing to the financial success and growth of the store

Required Skills and Qualifications

SpartanNash is looking for detail-oriented individuals who can work efficiently and responsibly. The ideal candidate will have:

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Ability to read, write, and understand work-related documents
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
1 year of retail or related experience (preferred but not required)

Physical Requirements

This role involves physical activity typical of a retail bakery environment:

Standing and walking for extended periods
Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, and turning
Lifting up to 30 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally
Working in varied temperatures and occasional outdoor conditions
