The Meat Cutter plays a crucial role in Earth Fare’s Meat & Seafood Department. You will be responsible for cutting, trimming, and preparing meat to customer specifications, keeping displays attractive, and maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

🔪 Key Responsibilities

Meat Cutting & Preparation

Cut and trim meat for display or per customer order using knives, power saws, grinders, and cubing machines.
Clean and prepare fish and poultry.
Tie, lace, shape, and package various cuts for sale.
Place meats on trays or in containers for display and wrap as needed.

Customer Service

Provide friendly, knowledgeable support at the Meat & Seafood counter.
Help shoppers choose cuts, explain cooking techniques, and answer questions.
Educate customers on meat quality, sourcing, and preparation.

Merchandising & Department Support

Arrange and display meat cuts to maximize sales and visual appeal.
Assist in receiving product shipments and stocking refrigerators.
Maintain organized storage areas and prepare products for customer selection.
Complete other department tasks as assigned.

Safety & Cleanliness

Maintain a clean, sanitized workspace and equipment at all times.
Follow all safety procedures related to knife handling and hazardous equipment.
Ensure proper handling, storing, and rotating of meat products.
Adhere to Earth Fare’s Standard Operating Procedures and safety guidelines.

🧠 Required Knowledge & Skills

This role requires a blend of physical ability, customer service excellence, and technical skill. Preferred qualifications include:

Technical Skills

Strong knife-handling ability and safe work practices
Experience with meat-cutting equipment (saws, grinders, cubers, etc.)
Knowledge of primal and sub-primal meat cuts
Ability to cut whole chickens and prepare advanced cuts
Understanding of cooking techniques and doneness levels
Ability to use a Falcon handheld scanner and food scale
