The Opportunity
As a Seasonal Grounds Keeper, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the safety and beauty of the campus grounds year-round. From landscaping and snow removal to operating heavy equipment, this role is both hands-on and highly impactful, ensuring visitors and residents can safely enjoy the Banff Centre campus throughout all seasons.
Key Responsibilities

Perform landscaping duties: preparing grounds for planting, moving soil and gravel, constructing fences, and building retaining walls.

Carry out winter maintenance: snow removal (by hand, small engine tools, skid-steers, or plow trucks), sanding sidewalks, and chipping ice.

Maintain campus cleanliness: garbage removal, lawn mowing, tree trimming, leaf raking, and preparing flower beds for winter.

Operate light and heavy equipment: tractors, skid-steers, loaders, chainsaws, snow blowers, and specialized tools.

Perform minor equipment repairs and assist with event setups, signage installation, and other cross-departmental needs.

Make on-the-spot decisions in the absence of supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations during changing weather conditions.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should bring:

Minimum 2 years’ professional groundskeeping or landscaping experience.

Knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, and landscape construction practices.

Ability to operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment.

Class 5 Alberta driver’s license (or equivalent).

Physical ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold or heat.
Work Conditions

Outdoor work in dusty, wet, or snowy environments.

Physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, climbing, and prolonged outdoor activity.

Non-scheduled nights and weekends may be required during snow events.

Specific clothing requirements will be provided.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $18.02 – $18.92 per hour.

Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week.

Contract: October 15, 2025 – March 31, 2026.
