Role Overview

The Director of Sales Engineering sits at the crossroads of sales, product, and customer workflows, ensuring that LiveU delivers the most compelling technical solutions for:

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a team of sales engineers across multiple regions.

  • Establish best practices for discovery, solution design, proof-of-concept, and technical validation.

  • Build repeatable frameworks for technical storytelling, value mapping, and competitive positioning.

  • Collaborate with Sales and Customer Success leadership to enhance client technical capabilities and ensure smooth onboarding.

Technical Expertise & Customer Engagement

  • Serve as the senior technical authority during strategic client opportunities.

  • Architect end-to-end live video contribution and transmission solutions, including:

    • Cellular bonding (LiveU LU-series products)

    • IP video transport protocols (SRT, RIST, RTMP, NDI, SMPTE ST 2110)

    • Cloud and hybrid live production workflows

    • Traditional broadcast infrastructures (OB trucks, control rooms, MCR/TOC, contribution networks)

  • Deliver demos, workflow consultations, and workshops to executives and engineers.

  • Translate complex customer requirements into actionable solution architectures and commercial packages.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Management to advocate for customer-driven features and improvements.

  • Align with Marketing for technical content, case studies, industry events, and product launches.

  • Provide post-launch technical readiness training for internal teams and partners.

  • Support Sales Operations in developing scalable processes and collateral for technical sales initiatives.

Thought Leadership & Industry Presence

  • Represent LiveU at industry events (NAB, IBC, SVG, etc.) as a subject-matter expert.

  • Stay ahead of evolving live production technologies and competitive trends.

  • Influence company strategy for new workflow categories, partnerships, and product innovation.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 15+ years in broadcast, sports, or live production industries.

  • Proven leadership experience managing technical solution engineering teams.

  • Track record supporting enterprise broadcast clients, sports rights holders, or production companies.

Technical Skills

  • Deep knowledge of broadcast video transmission, IP contribution workflows, and video encoding/decoding.

  • Expert-level proficiency in LiveU products (LU-series, LiveU Central/Cloud, LiveU Studio).

  • Familiarity with production systems like routers, switchers, replay, asset management, and cloud platforms.

  • Ability to design robust, scalable solutions integrating cloud and on-premises environments.

Soft Skills
