Key Responsibilities

As a Meat Department Associate, you’ll play an important role in ensuring quality, freshness, and customer satisfaction. Your main duties will include:

Cutting, processing, wrapping, pricing, and weighing fresh meat products
Assisting customers with product selection and cooking knowledge
Stocking fresh, frozen, and self-service cases with proper rotation
Receiving meat deliveries and organizing storage
Following sanitation, food safety, and company standards
Maintaining price books, scales, and department records
Supporting special projects and training other associates when needed

Once trained, you’ll also handle specialized meat-cutting tasks such as cubing steaks, grinding meats, and preparing products based on Hannaford’s Standard Practice Manual.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

Good interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset
Customer service experience and strong communication skills
Previous meat associate or meat cutting experience (preferred)
Ability and willingness to learn new technical skills

Physical Requirements

This role is physically active and requires:

Lifting 1–40 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Standing/walking 100% of the time in a cool environment (around 45°F)
Frequent bending, twisting, and repetitive hand/arm motions
Ability to handle cleaning materials, packaging, and meat products
