Location: Sierra Bonita Head Start, Safford, AZ
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) – Monday to Friday, approx. 7:00am – 3:00pm
Pay: $15.35/hour
Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: Day, with some evenings and weekends as needed
Supervisor: Center Manager

🍲 What You’ll Do

As the Cook, you’ll be at the heart of the Head Start program, preparing and serving nutritious, family-style meals that support the growth and development of children. Key responsibilities include:

Preparing breakfast, lunch, and snacks following cycle menus that meet Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and Head Start guidelines.
Ordering food, tracking inventory, and ensuring meals stay within budget.
Practicing strict food safety, handling, and storage standards.
Maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment, including dishwashing and equipment upkeep.
Supporting classroom nutrition activities and providing healthy food experiences for children.
Participating in teamwork and staff meetings to ensure smooth operations.

✅ Minimum Qualifications

To qualify, you must have:

High school diploma or GED.
At least 18 years of age.
A valid Arizona driver’s license with a good driving record.
Prior experience in food service, including meal prep, handling, and storage.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
AZ Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card (before start date).
Basic math skills for measuring, portioning, and budgeting.
Willingness to complete First Aid/CPR certification and Food Safety training after hire.

Spanish language skills.
Experience with CACFP, School Lunch Program, or Head Start.
Proficiency with Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
